Reminder of registration

Just a reminder that registration is right around the corner.  Have a successful registration by doing the following:

1.  Meet with your advisor.  Remember, it is mandatory that students with less than 30 credits, Deciding students, HSR majors, and those in the NUINT or NURSETR have to be checked off in the system.  Even if it isn’t mandatory for you, it is still a good idea to touch base with your advisor so that you are always up to date with the latest happenings and so you don’t make a mistake!

2.  Have multiple schedules planned out.  Only so many people can get the “perfect schedule,” so remember to have alternate schedules, not just classes, in case something is closed.

3.  Make sure you have the prerequisites that the class requires.  The system will stop you if you don’t match the correct criteria.

4.  Likewise, make sure that the section is not restricted to a certain major.  Yes, you may need that class, but if you are not the major specified for a restricted section, then you won’t be able to register for it.  Check for a non-restricted section or see if you are trying to take it off cycle. For example, some majors may take photography in the spring and not in the fall when most sections are restricted to FIVTH students.

5.  Allow yourself plenty of time for travel between the Greenspring and Owings Mills campuses.  A minimum of 30 minutes if you are driving or an hour if you are catching the shuttle.

6.  Save time, put your classes in the preferred sections list on WebXpress.  That way when it is your time to register you don’t have to spend more time than necessary putting in the classes.

7.  If you are planning to take over 18 credits, think it over carefully and if you decide to continue on this path, make sure that you fill out an overload form (click here http://ssc.stevensonuniversity.org/files/2008/12/overload.pdf or pick one up in the Registrar’s office).  This form must be signed off by your advisor and an official from the Office of Academic Support Services.  Turn the form into the Registrar’s office before it is time to register.  If the form is not received beforehand, then you can only register up to 18 credits until your form is turned in.

8.  Yes, we do want your registration forms; however, we do not want them until after you register.  You form should reflect the classes for which you are currently registered.  Please do not just drop the form into the box thinking that we will register you; unfortunately, it just doesn’t work that way.

9.  If you are having problems registering, please don’t get frustrated.  Register for what you can and then call the office at 443-334-2206/2207 to see if we can help you out.  Sometimes, it is just a matter of switching your classes around a little bit, but when you get frustrated it makes it difficult to figure it out.

10.  Lastly, be flexible and stay calm, in the end you will have a schedule.

Here’s wishing everyone a great and successful registration!
