Where do I rent my cap, gown and hood for the graduation ceremony?
Your cap, gown and hood are all rented at the University Store during the Graduation Fair. The Store is located in Room 111 of the Manuszak Center on the Greenspring campus. All rentals are paid in the Store. You will need to provide your measurements to the attendant for a good fit. And be sure to know your degree… (i.e., Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science) We don’t want you to walk across that stage in the wrong regalia…you worked too hard for this!!

How much will it cost to rent my cap and gown?
Approximately $50

When is the Graduation Fair?
The Graduation Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

I will be unable to attend the Fair due to my schedule. Can I still get a cap and gown?
Sure. The Graduation Fair is still the best time to place your order because you will be speaking directly to a Herff Jones team member. However, you can stop by the store until close of business on Thursday, February 18 to rent your regalia. Please note that if you place your order on February 19 or later, we will charge you a $25 late fee. Your order will be sent to the rental company and processed individually. Please avoid this, it is much harder to track one gown than a larger shipment.

Can I purchase announcements during the Fair?
Absolutely! Representatives from Herff Jones will be on hand during this time period to show samples of graduation announcements and related gifts. All of these gifts are purchased through the Store. However, if you do not have the time to browse the selection, you can order your announcements online at http://www1.herffjones.com/college/graduation/index.cfm.

Can I purchase rings during the Fair?
Once again…no problem. There will be numerous ring samples at the fair for you to browse. Herff Jones representatives will take all orders and payments for rings. Be prepared to spend a few minutes with them…the rings are fantastic!

Can I purchase a commemorative mug?
Mugs will be on display and available with all regalia rentals. They are currently available in four colors: green, blue, black and white. Each will be imprinted with the graduation year and name of the recipient. Payment must be made at the University Store at the time of order. Mugs will be available for pickup with the caps and gowns.

I saw some great looking diploma frames at the store…can I purchase one?
These frames are quite beautiful and are designed to fit the SU diploma. The University Store will have a number of them on hand during the Graduation Fair but store space is limited. If the store runs out, you can view the frames and order them online at www.collegiateframes.com. (We’ll let you in on a little secret! If you get one in the store, you’ll save the $25 shipping and handling charge!)

Where and when do I pick up my cap and gown? What about my announcements? What about my tickets?
Cap and gowns will be available for pickup one week before the ceremony (May 10) in the University Store. You will also pick up your tickets at the same time.  The ticket packet will be inside your cap and gown package. The University Store will send an email to notify the graduating class of their arrival. You can pick it up at any time during normal operating hours at the Store with a valid photo ID. We suggest that you hang it up in the house as soon as possible to reduce any wrinkles and then iron it for the ceremony. The Registrar gets really ticked when she sees wrinkled gowns going across the stage. Announcements and gifts are shipped directly to the address on the order form.

My cap and gown doesn’t fit…Can I still walk across the stage?
Just stop by the University Store. We always order additional caps, gowns and hoods just for this reason. We’ll exchange the problem item for a new one and you’ll be on your way across the stage in minutes.

Do I get to keep the cap and gown?
Nope…Sorry. The cap and gown is a rental, not a sale. To purchase it would cost over $250. You will need to return the cap and gown directly after the ceremony to the attendants in the Dawson Center theatre lobby. You will receive a receipt to confirm the return of the regalia. A fine of $25 will be assessed to anyone who does not return their cap and gown immediately after graduation.  This will be strictly enforced and could delay the mailing of your diploma if the fine is not paid.

I would like to a get a photo or video of Graduation to remember this day!
We don’t blame you one bit…this is an important moment in your life. You’ll want to relive it over and over. To help you achieve this, a member of the Northeast Photo Network will be present at the ceremony to take a snapshot after you cross the stage. They will also be filming the presentation to create a video.
